Booneville is located at the junction of Arkansas State Scenic Highways 23 and 10 and lies between the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and the Ouachita region. South Logan County provides the best of both regions with hiking trails, wilderness areas, spring-fed streams, recreation areas, wildlife and some of the best vistas in Western Arkansas.

ATTRACTIONS

ARKANSAS TUBERCULOSIS SANITARIUM - 1910-1973. A self-sustaining city built to house and treat tuberculosis patients. It had its own water and sewer system, and fire department, plus farm and research center.

BOONEVILLE CITY LIBRARY - (John Paul McConnell Memorabilia Room). Displays of mementos of Booneville native John Paul McConnell, Air Force Chief of Staff from 1965 to 1969. Collection includes medals, photos and other souvenirs.

BOONEVILLE WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT DEMONSTRATION AREA - Headquarters for Sporting Dog Championship Field Trials held each year in March - December, including the National German Shorthaired Association in early March, the Blue Mountain Coon Hunters Association PKC O.E. Field Trial in late August and early September, the Irish Setter Club of America National Field Championship in late October, the Southland Pointer Field Trial Championship in early November and the American Brittany Club National Field Trials in late November.

MOUNT MAGAZINE STATE PARK - Located atop Mount Magazine, it offers breathtaking views of the valley and Blue Mountain Lake. Campsites are available all year. The State Park Lodge will open in the spring of 2006. Mount Magazine is Northeast of Booneville, soaring to 2,753 feet above sea level.

FESTIVALS

EARLY JUNE: Booneville is host to the Second Street Music Festival, where Second Street and Broadway come alive with music, games and great food and drink.

LATE JUNE: Residents and former residents renew old acquaintances during the annual Homecoming Weekend. Enjoy the Booneville Rodeo with its parade and more.

MID-AUGUST: Annual Logan County Gospel Music Convention held at the First United Methodist Church is an old-fashioned shaped note singing convention.

LATE AUGUST: The South Logan Fair will be held at the South Logan County Fairgrounds.

EARLY OCTOBER: Music fills the air at the Annual October Daze Fall Festival. Live music, fun and delicious foods.
